The thing is, I never really think about what I'm going to wear. I just go by a certain emotion or sometimes I just wake up with a piece of clothing already in my mind and then create the outfit from it. It's a prefect little creative process which always makes me feel good. For example, this morning while I was playing with Frida on the bed before heading to uni, I asked myself what should I wear, considering the birthday and everything. Since I had to spend half of the day at the Academy, comfy was the only option I had in mind. And something new. New and comfy. It was just too easy, a total no-brainer. I opted for a new H&M cozy sweatshirt (you'll see it soon in one post) and a simple pair of jeans, with the addition of my lovely Startas sneakers. Et voila, a birthday uniform was born.
The whole morning got me thinking about some of the really cool and much loved outfits I wore years ago - from my highschool days to first uni years in Zagreb. I've always had a huge crush on an eclectic street style and extravagant pieces which I used to wear a lot in the past years and every time I remember a certain combo, a big smile appears on my face. The only a bit sad part about it all is the fact that I don't have documented any of it, not a single DIY piece I did, not even a snapshot of my handpainted Dr. Martens boots, followed by many jeans completely covered in drawings, from crazy theatre costumes worn as daytime outfits and too many craziness and creative looks I used to adore but nowdays don't have them anywhere but inside of my own head.
When blogging exploded, I never really thought about sharing looks. I was always more of a pen and pencil kind of gal, so that's the wagon I jumped on. I wrote, and wrote and wrote...and one day discovered Sea of shoes, followed by the Blonde Salad. I was hooked. For years before that, I have lived and breathed fashion, sometimes even more than film which is my first love and a carrer, so I started thinking about opening my own blog space where I can share and write about my looks. It didn't happen immediately, it took me months to decide do I really want to do it and, more importantly, what was the reason for doing it in the first place?
Flash forward. Today.
From that starting point my style has changed dramatically. I embraced vintage pieces, lots of colours, prints on top of prints, closet full of oversized items and went into a new direction without really being fully aware of it. I never dress up for a blog purpose, if I don't feel like shooting an outfit, I won't do it. I try to keep it as authentic as I can, because this place is a reflection of who I am and I wouldn't compromise that for anything. It's like my virtual living room where all of you are invited. And style and love for different aspects of fashion is what brings us all together. That's why I look forward to every new outfit post and continue to do them on a daily basis.
