Seaside is perfect in every season but when you're a dog owner and the temperatures go sky high, the best thing to do is to pack doggy things, call friends and hit to road to the woods.
One of the cool things about living in Rijeka is the fact that it is so well connected to pretty much every part of Croatia and beyond. That also means that Gorski kotar is less than hour away drive, in other terms - heaven.
I remember, when I was a bit younger, this part of the country didn't interest me at all. But over the years I learned to love and enjoy the nature, the woods, lakes, caves and that feeling of peace and silence all around.
It's the perfect spot for relaxing and recharging and I truly hope that one day (soon) we'll be able to afford ourselves a little pretty colorful house in this area (along with the one on the island...I'm so modest it hurts). But enough daydreaming and let's go back to yesterday.
We went to Lokvarsko lake (it's huge and beautiful) with Frida's little jack russell friend Lilo whose owner is our friend and also first door neighbor. How awesome, right?
The day was spent in a complete lazyness, sitting in a shade then going back to the water several times, playing with dogs, eating, walking and talking. Time flew by super fast and we almost forgot to take any pictures (!!) even though I took my camera and my polaroid and obviously iPhone with me (if you have me on Instagram then you already know how everything looked like in real time).
It also got me thinking that for adventures like these I should get me a smaller camera, because dragging around a Canon 5D Mark II with its zoom 24-105mm lens when you're around water, dogs, woods and tricky walking area is not as cool as it looks. I pretty much worry about it all the time which is a total partypooper. I guess it would be completely ok to forget about your professional work and mindset when you go somewhere fun and leave the big camera at home, right? Maybe buy a disposable one for every short trip to make even more fun?
Lilo, look at the camera, look at me!
What a poser, seriously.
It's hard to decide which one is crazier - the beagle or the jack russell. Spending time with them is like constantly being on a rollercoaster.
Also, I'll be editing a little video from this day and share it on my long forgotten Youtube channel, maybe even tonight or tomorrow. I'm still not completely into making YT videos for blog but since it's summer and I have so many things planned, I think I'll start sharing them this way too. Fingers crossed and talk to you soon! :)
