Love letter to my readers

Lately I've been experiencing some difficulties with expressing my feelings in the form of a written word. I want to say so many things, write so many new posts but somehow everything ends in the trash bin. It's not a writer's block but probably the reaction to the end of the year that's slowly but surely approaching.

Actually, we're only hours away from the mysterious and unknown 2017.

And the only thing I really, truly wish to say is thank you.

2016 - a year of many changes

At first I considered deleting this post.
Not because I have something against 2016 (it was a great one for me) but simply because it felt like I have too many things to say and in order not to mess it all up, it seemed like a good idea not to write about it at all.

But c'mon.
I love to talk and I love to write and I especially LOVE to reflect on things.
So I sat down, turned off the music and in the most beautiful light of golden hour started to type.

After the last take was filmed...

Yesterday afternoon I arrived to Sibenik with too many things, props and equipment from the filming. Yes, we're done. All 100 episodes have been filmed and I can't wait for the editing phase to continue after the New Year.
For all my Croatian readers, you can sneak peek the Christmas episode on HRTi before it hits the air and HERE is the link. I can't wait to hear you comments! <3

Happiness report (1)

* Waking up with a soundtrack playing in your head and picking up the laptop straight from the bed so you can play the song as loud as possible.

* Meeting a best friend for a cup of tea in the morning and realising that both of you are in such a good place after such a long time.

Editor's Letter: December

Make your life incredibly magical and amazing.
You can do it.

It's hard to translate all the things I've been feeling and experiencing lately because, mostly, it's just too damn overwhelming. And I mean that in the most positive and awesome way.

Editor's Letter: November

I feel like so many things have changed over the last couple of weeks.
The amount of happiness and love I'm currently feeling is almost too much for words.
But I'm writing anyway.

Right now I'm in Sibenik, my hometown, where I'm spending a few days off from filming before I head back to the charming little Skradin where the majority of our set is. Even though I'm at home and in my PJs, I feel like I haven't left the set at all because there's so much work to be done and days tend to fly by too fast. It's exhausting but brilliant.

The challenge: Keeping my blog alive and kicking while being on set for 2 months

Flashback: About a month ago, when I got a call about this tv project I'm working on and its deadlines, the first thing that crossed my mind was (without exaggerating) - oh my gosh, what's gonna happen to my blog? - because I instantly knew that, from the moment I say 'yes' to everything, my free time will stop existing until the series is done.

To make everything even more interesting, along with directing the show I also said I wanted to write a big part of the episodes. Forty, to be exact.

Weekly notes: Director's Cut

Preproduction phase...

Today feels a bit weird.
Mario and Frida are on their way back to Rijeka and I won't see them again until Christmas, which means I'm all alone in this crazy hometown of mine. Actually, I'm most definitely NOT alone because I'm surrounded by my tv crew and phones are ringing constantly and so many mails need to be answered etc.

It's crazy and I'm loving it.

TV Corner: Younger, Season 3 / Episodes 02 & 03

'LAST DAYS OF BOOKS'

In between writing a screenplay and packing for a two month long filming, a few days ago I finally managed to catch some free time (I actually said no to Criminal Minds in order to see Younger) to catch up on the last two episodes of my favourite show.

But I must admit (and it hurts me to say this) that I'm not really into this season so far.

Outfit: Leather jacket x Maxi sweater

Sing along with me:
Another head aches, another heart breaks
I am so much older than I can take
And my affection, well it comes and goes
I need direction to perfection no, no, no, no...

My dear friends, it would be an impossible task to write down in just one post every single crazy adventure this Naf Naf leather jacket has seen with me throughout the last deacade. From helping me survive high school to pretending to be way cooler and important than I was at my first Academy to countless rock and punk shows, so many filmings, terrible dates and awesome ones, too many travels...and all that even before this blog was born.

If there's one piece I cherish more than anything else in my wardrobe, that would be this legendary jacket.

Farfetch - Finding #TheOne

A week ago a thought crossed my mind: in a few days I'll be going away for two months for the filming of a tv series I'm directing and co-writing and I have nothing to wear.
This might sound funny at first, but let me ensure you it's not. Autumn is in full swing and I can no longer wear my favourite summer pieces and pretend I haven't noticed the change in the seasons. I mean, it's cold guys.

Outfit: So many shades of grey

I just started working on an intense and exciting new project, which means long hours are back on and days tend to fly by even faster than the usual fast. So yesterday afternoon, after being awake and crazy focused since 6.30 in the morning, I realised my head's gonna explode if I don't take my aching little body (from sitting in front of the computer) out for a walk.

I needed a short break from all the phone calls and various screens and above all - I needed my clothes to bring me back to life.

TV Corner: YOUNGER, Season 3 / Episode 01

'A KISS IS JUST A KISS.'

I was eating my beloved Ritter Sport Praline chocolate and wondering should I move on to the script writing or book reading when my iPhone blinked, showing a message on Instagram from my dearest Ela. She texted me that she's watching YOUNGER, that it's hillarious and that she hopes it's gonna stay that way 'till the end of an episode.

I was like 'WTF? has the new season started and I had no idea?' and the answer was YES, my second favourite show (number one is How to get away with murder) is back on and I'm so freaking excited.

Outfit: Dots, Denim, Silver and Black

Remember how in one of my previous posts I mentioned the huge process of reorganizing my closet and getting rid of pretty much everything so I can start from scratch?

Well, say hello to currently my only one pair of jeans which I found last winter at H&M Divided after spending what seemed like an eternity in search to find a proper pair of jeans that could replace the legendary Mango ones (whoa, it's been months since the last time I mentioned them!).

15 Reasons Why Autumn is Amazing

You know how this equation goes - whether you love or hate it, the good old Autumn’s back and you can’t fast forward time to yet another endless Summer no matter how hard you might want it.

Personally, I was counting days ‘till my favourite season arrived and now that we’ve finally entered the glorious phase of crispy golden leaves, hot drinks, warm soups and fluffy blankets I couldn’t be happier.

And if you’re one of those people who still feel the summertime sadness vibe, I’m begging you - give Autumn a chance and it just might positively surprise you. And here’s why:

10 Reasons Why I Love To-Do Lists

I have always been in love with creating different lists - on a daily basis, monthly, half-yearly and yearly as well. Pretty much every single day on mine starts with writing down certain goals and tasks for the day and that little ritual is almost sacred to me. I always do it in silence, when I'm fully relaxed so I can properly focus on the things I'm writing down.

Beauty: Most loved and used in August

Happy Monday, guys!
Today finally feels like autumn and I'm really happy about it, this morning I actually had to wear my sweatshirt while walking Frida and I'm not even gonna try to hide how much I enjoyed it after such a long time.

But before we proceed to beauty talk, let's just take a minute to celebrate the most awesome wildlife news that came in today: The giant PANDA is no longer endangered species, they have been upgraded to vulnerable and I'm so extremely happy about it.

As I'm writing this text, I can hear the warm wind howling, tossing and turning the curtains in all directions and throwing pieces of the paper on the floor. Frida isn't amused. Even though it's still really hot outside, some kind of silent nostalgia can be felt in the air.

August Posts Roundup

Can you hear it? That's autumn, slowly approaching us with its shorter days, a bit colder weather, some rainy mornings and teatime glory.

As always, I'm looking forward to it because every change in seasons makes me excited - for new outfit choices, different food and pastry, holidays, birthdays, and different colours of the nature around me.

Blog was a little more silent than usual during August, not because I was lazy but the truth is I needed some time for myself. Time to think about life, career and the inevitable changes that are about to happen once I finally say goodbye to the student life (can't wait!!). But before I get all serious (right!), let's go back in time to see which ten posts you enjoyed reading the most through the last 31 days (also known as the only time in month when I go through my Analytics profile).

Weekly Notes: Director's Cut

Past few weeks have been a crazy ride, but a really good one.

I've been writing constantly, but none of it has made it to the blog yet...it's just not ready. My notebooks in all colours and sizes are pretty much everywhere in the apartment, each of them focused on a certain theme or category...sounds like a mess but it most definitely isn't. At least not for me, it works like a charm.

Love Letter To My Blog

I always knew blogging was gonna be my thing.

Seriously, from day one, when I was still a kid in high school who spent her days writing, reading and daydreaming. I guess I have no one but my diaries to blame so when sharing your ideas, inspirations, work and hopes became possible online, I jumped on that bandwagon without much thinking and never regretted it.

Lately on Instagram

You know how they say that the best camera is the one you have with you? Well, there's so much truth in those words and that's also one of the reasons why at times I wander around only in the company of my beloved pink iPhone.
I love the freedom it gives me and it serves as a perfect little break from my DSLR, which is something I really crave from time to time, especially during hot summer days.

Things I've Learned From 4 Years of Blogging

Wow guys, it's been four years already. Four crazy years. Can you believe it? I sure cannot.
Countless posts, ideas, photographs, stories, people, cities and adventures.
And so much love from day one.

But today we're not here to talk about hearts, unicorns and glitter. Even though I've been living and breathing this blog for the last four years, I've been present in blogosphere for around ten years (I first mentioned it a few months ago when I wrote about blogging reality most people know nothing about), which means that I've experienced first hand all the changes that have happened in the last decade (God, I sound so old). And today I'm sharing them with you, because sharing is caring so let's get going.

July Posts Roundup

Yesterday it hit me: next Monday my blog turns five years old!

I'm talking about five years of insane dedication, love and constant learning process along with so many changes that have happened in between. And believe me when I say this: I couldn't be more proud.
But before I get way too emotional in front of everyone, let's hit the pause button and go back in time for a few weeks to see which ten posts you enjoyed the most in July.

Smile, STYLE, Sparkle: Katarina

Whenever my little sister makes an apperance on the blog, the crowd goes wild and this time it was no exception. I chose her to be the first individual shot for my newest style category and judging from the reactions, it seems like I made the right decision.

Editor's Letter: August

And so it begins, the last real summery month, August, that should be filled with swimming, beach time, ice- cream, great books and above all relaxation and recharging batteries for the upcoming long and moody winter.
While 'everyone' is currently somewhere around Santorini, Maldives, Tulum or Cuba according to the social media, in the reality of normal life and even blogosphere most of us are stuck in the city, in concrete hell, trying to cope with sky high temperatures.

The Best Croatian Dog Beach: Monty's Dog Beach and Bar, Crikvenica

I have never thought that a huge part of my content would become a search for the best dog beaches in Croatia but ever since queen Frida discovered that she in fact enjoys playing in the sea which sometimes also involves swimming (it has taken her ten innocent years to give it a chance but better late than never, right?) our situation has changed drastically. Nowdays she's a rightful and a very loyal member of our tiny seaside crew and so finding a few great beaches where we can bring her along became an imperative.

I love living in Kvarner area for so many different reasons and a growing amount of dog friendly places is surely one of them. Rijeka has two official dog beaches, Kostrena too (we've already spent a lot of time in one of them this summer) but NOTHING compares to, in my humble opinion (and Frida's too, and you know how high standards that beagle has), the BEST croatian dog beach and that's MONTY'S DOG BEACH & BAR in Crikvenica.

Smile, STYLE, Sparkle: Katarina

'I mean, a new dress doesn't get you anywhere; it's the life you're living in the dress, and the sort of life you had lived before, and what you will do in it later.' - Diana Vreeland

For me, these few lines perfectly sum up how I feel about personal style and why I'm so interested in stories behind the clothes. At the beginning of this adventure all of this used to be about me and documenting my style but over time this blog became so much more and now it's also about you guys and everyone who has a certain story to tell.

That's why I decided to start this new category called 'Smile, STYLE, Sparkle' (I talked about it in one of my previous posts as well) that's gonna be focused on personal style of different individuals who don't use their clothes as a meaningless accessory but as a form of self-expression. They don't give a damn about trends, aren't afraid to spill red vine on a pricey shirt or dress, don't care what someone else might say because they're too busy enjoying life in the outfits of their choices.

On Instagram lately

Hey there, you wonderful people!

It's + 30 degrees here in Rijeka and, if you're asking me, there's nothing romantic about Summer at the moment. It's too hot to think or work properly, taking pictures outdoors is a big ha-ha-ha and the only thing I'm wishing for is to be teleported to Hvar or Brač or Vis (aka the islands) so that I can spend the entire day on the beach, in deep shade. No matter how much love I have for Rijeka, summer in the city simply SUCKS - even if that city is located by the sea. Gimme island life, pleeeease!

One of my wishes from the summer bucket list is to create a memory box and while I was thinking about how to do it and where to start from, I realised that I actually want to do the same thing with my favourite looks (and not only the summery ones but all the old ones as well)
