So here's a thing: KRKA national park is one of my happy places, no matter if I'm there to work (I've worked on a whole bunch of promotional videos and documentaries) or simply to enjoy the nature with some of the most amazing people in my life.
That morning, while we were wondering should we take a short trip to Split because the weather was too amazing to waste the day by doing something boring, my best friend BRANKA sent me a text that contained a photo of the waterfalls on that perfectly sunny morning.
I called her immediately and asked funnily is there some hidden meaning behind the shot - naturally, she laughed and said 'It's an invitation!'. In a matter of minutes we finished what was left of our breakfast, got dressed and jumped into the car.
The whole park was silent because the massive amount of tourists that KRKA gets every single year hasn't started to arrive just yet (and I'm so grateful for that!) which ment that we could enjoy the nature like it was there for us and us only.
Plus, on a more selfish side, I was super excited that I could actually spend some time with Branka, who works there as one of the rangers (if you visit Krka and she happens to be your guide for the day, consider yourself the luckiest person in the world - she speaks six languages, knows every single detail about the park and absolutely adores her job) and this was the first time ever that I came there to visit her while she was working.
Btw, how cool it is to say that your friend is a ranger? Sounds like a total superhero story material.
One of the things that made me enjoy this day even more was the fact that everything around me felt, smelled and sounded like spring. We spent so much time just wandering around the nature that we all know so well and during small breaks we would simply sit in the bright light of sunshine, enjoying the heat. Yes, finally some heat that instantly made me regret not wearing short sleeves and that was actually such a pleasant thought after months and months of sweater weather.
